THE AWA MUSEUM

A Day at the AWA Museum Annex

I hope you enjoyed your virtual tour of the AWA Museum. Now, I invite you to look behind the scenes and see what it takes to run your museum. See how materials are brought into the facility, recorded, stored, repaired, and the untold other tasks required to keep the museum running. Just less than a mile down the road from the museum proper is what we call the Museum Annex, our storage building. It is located on property owned by the AWA and consists of three connected buildings that were constructed one-by-one over a 12 year period.

The first building was just storage with no heating or cooling. The second addition is now the Bruce Kelley Memorial Research Library and is well insulated and has rudimentary humidity control. It contains books, paper work, records and the Curator's office; consisting of a third hand metal desk and a plywood shelf to hold one of three networked PC's in the facility. The most recent addition, a two year old facility has full HVAC. So let's take a look at these folks and their work that makes your museum possible.
